VBDL LAWRENCE BRANCH LIBRARIAN SET TO RETIRE
DECATUR, MICHIGAN – – – – Van Buren District Library congratulates and thanks long-time library employee, Denise Campagna, for 17 years of exceptional service. The public is invited to extend their farewell wishes during an open house at the Lawrence Branch, Saturday, April 1, 1:00 to 3:00 pm, which also marks Campagna’s last day on the job.
Campagna, began her library career in Lawrence after spending more than 20 years teaching in Chicago. She not only worked as an early childhood educator, but also owned and operated a dance studio. After relocating to Van Buren County, Campagna, a self-proclaimed “book junkie,” was hired as a Lawrence library clerk in March 2000. Six years later she was promoted to assistant branch manager in 2006 and to branch librarian in January 2007.
While excited for the next chapter in her life, Campagna says her departure is bittersweet. “I’ve loved my career as a librarian, especially the patrons and the friends I’ve made, but for me personally, it’s time for new adventures.”
Library Director Ryan Wieber credits Campagna for providing outstanding public service to the Lawrence community.
“With her energetic spirit and smile,” Wieber says, “Denise made the library a fun and happening place for residents of all ages. The library board and staff will miss her enthusiasm, but are grateful in knowing she will still be involved as a volunteer and Friend of the Library.”
The Lawrence Community Branch is located at 212 North Paw Paw Street. Van Buren District Library is headquartered at Webster Memorial Library in Decatur, with branches in Bangor, Bloomingdale, Covert, Gobles, Lawrence and Mattawan.
