This season of Doctor Who seems to be fixing a lot of the issues I had with the previous season. Last Season there was a lot of focus put on Clara’s character due to the fact that Jenna Coleman was planning to leave the series but then decided to stick around for one more season. The show felt like it had become the Clara Oswald show with her trusty sidekick the Doctor. This season Clara is still around but there is a healthy balance between her screen time and that of her costars.
Last season the Doctor felt a bit off. I know the showrunner and Capaldi were going for a new approach but the Doctor often came across as rude or even sometimes cruel or detached. This season the Twelfth Doctor is feeling more like the Doctors of old. He still has his sarcastic humor and dry wit but he is more approachable.
The overuse of the sonic screwdriver is also gone this season, the screwdriver having been destroyed in the very first episode of season 9. Now granted, the Doctor does have his new sonic sunglasses but they’re used maybe once or twice an episode. The Doctor now has to rely more on his own wit rather than a plot device to get out of situations.
As usual I’m loving this year’s episodes of Doctor Who. Though I had some problems with last season, this season manages to fix all of that while still adding to the mythos and providing solid entertainment.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
