DECATUR, MICHIGAN – – – – Van Buren District Library, in collaboration with three other library systems, is holding the second annual Teen Creative Writing Challenge for students in grades 7 through 12 beginning Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Each library kicks off the Challenge with information and registration forms, refreshments and special displays.
The submission period begins on February 1 and ends at midnight on Saturday, April 15. A cash prize of $75 is awarded to the first-place winners in the fiction and poetry categories in each of three grade categories: 7th and 8th grade, 9th and 10th grade, and 11th and 12th grade. In addition, all winning writers are published in a professionally printed book. To supply the book cover, the libraries are holding a Cover Art competition for artists in 7th to 12th grade. The winning artist receives $75.
