On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will cross the United States from Oregon to South Carolina. This rare phenomena will give people the chance to witness the sun’s spectacular corona. Since this is occurring during the summer vacation season, this solar eclipse holds the potential to be seen by more people than any other eclipse in history.
The Kalamazoo Astronomical Society President, Richard Bell, will be giving a preview of this historic event and explaining why solar eclipses occur. He will also be explaining how to safely view the upcoming eclipse.
