MARCH BOOK MADNESS AT VBDL
DECATUR, MICHIGAN – – – – Sixty-four contenders. Six rounds. Just one winner. What may sound like ingredients for a basketball tournament are actually the elements of Van Buren District Library’s March Book Madness.
Beginning Saturday, February 23, VBDL is pitting the Classics against the Currents in a six-week competition for the 2019 Fiction Champion. Titles competing in the first round include The Lord of the Rings against Game of Thrones, Fahrenheit 451 versus The Hunger Games, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe takes on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and Clifford, The Big Red Dog squares off against Biscuit.
Winners of Round One, which ends, March 1, go on to Round Two. The Final Round is March 30 to April 5, with the Champion begin announced during National Library Week.
“It’s all for fun,” VBDL Antwerp Sunshine Branch Manager Kayla Jellies says. “March is traditionally the season for basketball madness, so we thought we’d add to the excitement with some friendly competition in the stacks.”
Voting may be done online or at any VBDL location. For more information, phone 269.423.4771 or email info@vbdl.org. Van Buren District Library is headquartered in Decatur with branches in Bangor, Bloomingdale, Covert, Gobles, Lawrence and Mattawan.
