Borrowing Materials
- Check-out limits: No limit on number of books. There is a limit of 10 (ten) DVDs and 6 (six) magazines at one time.
- Check-out periods:
New adult fiction and nonfiction books check out for two weeks.
All other books and audiobooks, excluding Hot Picks, check out for three weeks at a time.
Hot Picks check out for one week and may not be renewed.
Mobile hotspots check out for two weeks and may not be renewed.
DVDs and magazines check out for one week.
All items, except Hot Picks and mobile hotspots, may be renewed no more than two times, if there are no reserves on them.
- As a benefit to all VBDL patrons, the library is FINE FREE as of November 1, 2019. This means we no longer assess overdue charges for any item, with the exception of mobile hotspots, that is returned late.
Programs/Activities
Van Buren District Library offers regular programs and special events throughout the year for all ages. A complete list of events is available on the VBDL calendar.
Internet and Wi-Fi
Each VBDL branch has a bank of computers for public use. Logging in requires a valid VBDL card and pin number. Out-of-town visitors may request a guest pass at the circulation desk. Free WiFi is also available at all locations.
Copies
Black and white copies from either a printer or copier is 15¢ per page. Color copies are 40¢ per page.
Faxing
VBDL can send faxes to any location in the continental United States. Cost is .50¢ for the first ten (10) sheets. Each additional page more than ten (10) is $1.00. Cost to receive a fax is .15¢ a page. Cost to receive a fax in color, if available, is .40¢. There is no charge for cover sheets. VBDL does not offer international faxing.

A variety of meeting rooms exist throughout the VBDL system. Contact the nearest branch for availability and appropriate use.
Blind and Handicapped Reading
Borrow audio or braille books for free from the State of Michigan’s Braille and Talking Book Library.
