VBDL ANNOUNCES FIRST ANNUAL VEEBEE AWARDS
DECATUR, MICHIGAN – – – -Van Buren District Library revealed the winners of the patron-selected Best Books of 2017 during an Oscar-worthy awards ceremony in Covert.
Over a two-month period, VBDL patrons nominated and then voted for titles in 11 categories in the library’s first annual VeeBee Awards.
Library Director Dan Hutchins is pleased to announce the winners:
Junior Graphic Novel: “Dog Man: A Tale of Two Kitties” by Dav Pilkey
Junior Nonfiction: “She Persisted” by Chelsea Clinton and Alexandra Boiger
Junior Fiction: “The Stars Beneath Our Feet” by David Barclay Moore
Young Adult Graphic Novel: “Lumberjanes, Vol. 6: Sink or Swim” by Shannon Watters and Kat Leyh
Young Adult Nonfiction: “#NotYourPrincess: Voices of Native American Women” by Lisa Charleyboy and Mary Beth Leatherdale
Young Adult Fiction (Tie): “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas and “Turtles All the Way Down” by John Green
