Little legs criss-crossed, hands clasped nicely in laps as the little listeners wait in silence for storytime to begin. The book is removed from the bag and all is well as storytime begins and the little listeners become enthralled in the book being read….
Ok, so maybe that’s more of a fantasy than a reality around here. Storytime is more of organized chaos. But we do love good books and we especially love good books that bring on a case of the giggles. 2014 delivered just that, with so many great choices of funny picture books.
If there’s one thing the little listeners like more than funny books, it’s funny books that make Miss Emily use funny voices. So B.J. Novak’s The Book with No Pictures was right up our storytime alley. Giggles upon giggles erupted each time a new word like BLORK or GLIBBITY GLOBBITY were read. For those of you who have yet to read The Book with No Pictures, the concept is very clearly written that you as the reader MUST read everything written on the page. There are no complaints of “where are all the pictures?!” because all the little listeners are waiting for the next BLLLLUUURFF or a silly song (that should be sung) about ants for breakfast.
And the best thing about this giggle inducing book is that it can be shared with the young listeners and older listeners alike. Everyone likes a good case of the sillies sometimes.[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”shadow” top_margin=”40″ bottom_margin=”40″ sep_color=”” icon=”” width=”” class=”” id=””/][fusion_text]
